Australia is sending its first-ever First Nations business mission to India to strengthen trade and investment links between Indigenous Australian enterprises and India’s mining and renewable energy sectors. The mission runs from October 26 to November 3, 2025, covering Mumbai, New Delhi, and Kolkata.

Led by the Perth USAsia Centre and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia on behalf of the Australian government, the delegation includes eight Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) companies, all First Nations-owned. These businesses, representing one of the world’s oldest continuous civilisations, aim to explore partnership opportunities and showcase their expertise at the International Mining, Equipment and Minerals Exhibition in Kolkata.

Philip Green OAM, Australia’s High Commissioner to India, said the mission reflects the country’s commitment to advancing Indigenous rights globally and helping First Nations communities benefit from India’s growing economy. “India offers huge opportunities for First Nations industries, from mining solutions to clean energy, agrifood, and native botanicals”, Green added.

The eight participating companies cover a range of innovations, including electric vehicle conversions, sustainable chemicals, engineering, safety, and cryogenic services. Key participants include Electric Power Conversions Australia, which retrofits diesel mining trucks to electric, Woollahara Group, a fuel-efficiency chemicals manufacturer, and Carey Mining Group, Western Australia’s largest 100% First Nations-owned mining business.

The mission marks a historic step in connecting Indigenous Australian businesses with global markets while promoting sustainable and innovative solutions for India’s mining and energy sectors.
