A few years back when the founder of India’s leading parenting magazine – Parentcircle, Nalina Ramalakshmi thought an idea of online content-driven-community portal for parenting, began the lookout for her ideal technology partner. She wanted a technology team with deep product development expertise which was good in collaborative innovation. The search ended when she came across SEAANT, a boutique technology firm. Few months later, the idea became a reality with Parent circle going live on web and mobile. Looking at the Parentcircle mobile app, a global product company – Ramco Systems hired SEAANT to work on the development of its new Uber like app for commercial vehicles – Lynk. Followed by eAdrenalin, a HR product firm engaged SEAANT to execute one of its product enhancement projects.

Today the company is fast emerging as a notable player in the product engineering space, having rolled out 20 products for its customers who are both well-established and start-up product companies. The projects
include 'idea to product development', product re-engineering, new features development for product companies. Customers are both from India and abroad. “The journey has been so fantastic that it has always kept us in the space of innovation, helping us to be on top of technologies, to build our design quotient high and to be engaged with pathfinders," says Premkumar Ponniah, Co-Founder & CTO, SEAANT. Prior to this venture, Prem was working in the US where he last worked with Verizon as its enterprise architect. He is an open source enthusiast-practices and contributes to open source world.

“I have very carefully imbibed the 'product culture' in our team, not to be seen as a regular services company. I look for people with passion towards creation. Each of our 50 engineers is handpicked by me. We are developing as a nice technology team that can deliver world-class products across all technology platforms be it web, mobile, social, cloud, big data, IOT, machine learning, AI or AR," he says. Interestingly, SEAANT uses Python as the language for
programming and this expertise is helping the company in tapping Machine Learning and AI opportunities. The company’s R&D division is working on a couple of experimental products to prove its capabilities in the Augmented Reality and IOT space.

Based on Agile and Scrum methodologies, SEAANT follows an ‘Agile 5D Approach’ in which the product development is done on sprints or iterations in short durations (2 to 8 weeks), enabling the product owners to interact and work with functioning software. Each product will have a scrum team of two, four and eight consisting of UI/UX engineers, full stack developers and QAs managed by a project manager/business analyst and an architect. The company also provides digital transformation services to business enterprises following an approach of ‘DATE2X’ to digitize and create connected organizations. For instance, it has been doing complete digital transformation for a leading microfinance company - Madura Microfinance.

SEAANT positions itself as a technology partner for start-up product companies and as an extended arm of development to established product companies. While the software services pie is shrinking, the spending on product development has been increasing multifold across the globe. Targeting this market, SEAANT is aiming to add global product companies to its clientele and taking strategic business development initiatives including partnering with large IT players with global footprint.
