Island Power Producers Limited (IPP) has chosen INOX India Ltd(INOXCVA), to win a high-profile contract for the design, engineering, and supply of a Mini LNG receiving and regasification terminal in The Bahamas. The natural gas will fuel IPP's 60 MW combined-cycle power plant, generating electricity for cruise ships berthed at the Nassau Cruise Port. This project will therefore serve as a benchmark for the smaller scale of LNG distribution; it is possible that the electricity generation sector and any other sectors in The Bahamas might use it as well.
The terminal will have a collective storage capacity of 15000 m3/b>, making it the largest installation of shop-built double-walled vacuum insulated LNG storage tanks in the world. The contract includes the supply of 10 vacuum insulated storage tanks of 1500m3 capacity and a regasification system. These tanks will be the largest double-walled vacuum insulated tanks ever made by INOXCVA, making it the biggest order ever received by its LNG business division.
Once installed, the Mini LNG Terminal will be able to take Lng through smaller ships and reloading of Lng in ISO Containers to serve Lng users within the locality. The contract coincides with the successful installation of INOXCVA's 2nd mini-LNG terminal put up by INOXCVA at Antigua. The said successful installation is seen as continuing growth in the usage and increased implementation of LNG as fuel, particularly in off-the-beaten-path areas.
