Kumar Sonu & Kumari Jaya,Co-FoundersIndia has become one of the leading suppliers of quality seafood (exported 10,85378 MT in just the first 10 months of 2017-18) to all high value markets of the world. The studies have indicated that almost all the varieties including those which are the most consumed marine products in the domestic market are exported at a price lower than domestic retail price. This in-turn leads to huge demand-supply gap of seafood in domestic markets and raise the prices in spite of increased productivity. While most Indian marine companies are tuned towards the export business, Balaji Sea Foods transports best quality marine products at affordable/original price across India. “With more than five years of experience in seafood business, we know the importance of supplying our customers the right quality in right time at right price,” avers Kumari Jaya, Founder & Business Head, Balaji Sea Foods.

The firm has immensely grown into an eminent supplier of popular seafood including prawns, seer fish, squid, Crab, basa fish, tilapia
and pomfret to name a few. These are mainly fetched from different shores of Tamil Nadu and brackish water ponds of Andhra Pradesh. Today, Balaji Sea Foods supplies to huge range of hotels, restaurants and caterers (HoReCa) within the country with its tailor-made and unmatched quality solutions. The company even associates with distributors to enhance its product footprint and minimize the demand-supply gap by delivering superior marine items at nominal prices. “We mainly concentrate on Prawns and Tilapia as they are the low fat source of proteins, rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and full of vitamins and minerals,” affirms Jaya.

A Technology-Friendly Firm
As a new-aged venture, Balaji Sea Foods deploys latest technologies and methods to keep fishes/prawns fresh for longer period. The products are stored and preserved under the process of metabolism and Individual Quick Frozen technique wherein a constant temperature of -40°C is maintained throughout the container by coating the specific portion of it with ice (glazing) which not only keeps
fishes/prawns fresh for extended time but also prevent them from deteriorating. These products are transported to the end-users in refrigerated vans running across the country maintaining the same temperature to keep the quality intact.

Strongly committed towards quality, this FSSAI compliant and Indian government approved firm adheres to various international guidelines for food safety and is in process of acquiring HACCP certification. Its high business ethics and custom enables employees to perform quality work, maintain positive attitude towards co-workers & self-directed while being loyal to the organization. Balaji Sea Foods helps these employees to cultivate the nature of commitment, dependability, enthusiasm, productivity, collaboration and team work within themselves.

Enrich with such passionate workforce, Balaji Sea Foods doubles its revenue every year and invest them in field of restaurants for further enhancement. The company’s long-term goal is to provide good technologies to prawn farmers and directly enter into Prawn and Crab farming. Looking at the fact that India is the highest producer and exporter of prawns but still a large portion of the brackish water areas are unused and untouched due to ignorance, Balaji Sea Foods is in the process of setting up a world class unit with maximum technology. In the near future, the company is looking forward for the branding of IQF prawns across the country.
