BegoCorp: Accelerating the Adoption of Electric Vehicles with Reliable Advanced Charging Solutions

Badarudheen, CEOThe global demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is on the rise. In India, there has been a significant threefold increase in EV sales between 2020 and 2022. Supported by government initiatives, the sales of EVs are expected to grow by another 35 percent to reach 14 million by the end of 2023. As the adoption of EVs continues to grow and the need for reliable and efficient charging infrastructure becomes increasingly important, Begocorp, a promising mobility retailer has established itself as a leading manufacturer and supplier of EV chargers in India. Begocorp combines its knowledge, expertise and experience to offer EV charging services.

Begocorp started its journey as a car hailing service in the year 2016, primarily serving corporate clients. However, by the end of 2019, the automotive industry began to undergo a significant transformation a shift toward electric vehicles (EVs). This change did not go unnoticed by the visionary minds at Begocorp. During this transition, the founders identified a gap in the EV industry: a lack of charging infrastructure in Kerala. This obstacle sparked an idea within the company why not venture into EV charging services alongside its car hailing business?

With this idea in mind, they forged a strategic partnership with a Hong Kong-based company called Shandong Sunyu. Together,
they embarked on a journey to create their own slow and fast EV chargers. To realize this ambitious goal, they enlisted the expertise of a research team based at Maker Village.

Fast forward to the year 2022, when the world was emerging from the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic, Begocorp decided to introduce a new business model. In addition to its car-hailing franchises, they offered charging hubs and EV taxis. This innovative approach ensured a steady stream of revenue, as the initial years of EV charging hubs were financially challenging due to the limited number of electric vehicles on the roads.

BEGO’s intention is to establish itself as a recognized global brand

Driven by a steadfast vision and an ever-growing demand for EVs in India, they set its sights on manufacturing electric vehicles themselves. BEGO scouted and identified a sprawling 350-acre plot in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Collaborating with multinational companies, they began the journey to establish an assembly line for EVs. Once all the necessary legal clearances were secured, they planned to kickstart the production and testing of its EVs, exclusively meant for its taxi fleet.

“The company’s goal is to provide sustainable EV solutions to B2B at a more competitive price point than the existing electric vehicles in the taxi industry", states Badarudheen, CEO of BEGO. Furthermore, the team at BEGO is working on creating a franchise model tailored for particular segments within the taxi sector, such as group services or rental businesses operating throughout India. This franchise model is strategically designed to alleviate the financial challenges faced by these business owners, enabling it to commence its operations without the need for a substantial upfront investment.

Today, Begocorp has expanded its operations to the Middle East, making a significant presence in Dubai and Oman. The company also has its eyes on extending its service to North America with the assistance of the Toronto Business Development Center. It is evident that the shift towards EVs in India is not just a trend; it is driven by concerns about pollution and aligned perfectly with the global movement toward electric mobility in the automotive industry. BEGO’s intention is to establish itself as a recognized global brand. For the future, the company has solid plans to develop electric vehicles for the taxi industry and aims to launch them by 2024.
