Established in 2014, Green Worms was established with the primary motive to put an end to the false practices by other companies that have been causing major issues for both nature and people. “Dominant practice of municipal waste disposal in India is either burning or landfilling which harms the environment and human health. With Green Worms we wish to make a change by converting these waste materials as raw materials for better use, hence, diverting from landfill and unscientific burning. We always wanted to be a part of solution our country faces today, whatever the little way we can and we found unscientific garbage disposal is one of the pressing problem our country faces today. Since it’s not a white-collar job, young educated people are hesitant to come to this domain but we didn’t mind dirtying our hand for a noble cause. That’s how Green Worms was born”, says Jabir Karat, Founder, Green Worms.
Committed to the cause, Green Worms has been able to diversify their service portfolio as per the needs of the market and as of now the company offers a plethora of custom designed and developed services. “Our operations are very diverse and we do waste pick up and sustainable waste disposal services to bulk waste generators like hotels, hospitals, apartments shopping malls and industries.
Then,we also collect waste from event management companies, food fests, and other large gatherings. We also deal with plastic waste and we carry out Extended Producers Responsibility(EPR)projects in south Indian cities such as Kerala Tamil Nadu and also Lakshadweep for various brand owners who produce plastic waste by selling it in the market. Finally, we also do green destruction of the expired and damaged food products of FMCG food products selling companies with all legal compliances”, states Shameer Bava, Founder, Green Worms.

Elucidating about the future plans of Green Worms, Jamsheer Cherushola, Founder, speaks, “We started from a small village in Kozhikode district in Kerala and now we are present in all major cities of south India like Cochin, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Vijayawada. For the future, we are planning to expand to other cities of Kerala and nearby states. Setting up 100 tons per day waste segregation center in Kerala is our next target and we also want to incorporate automatic machines to improve the efficiency of our segregation operations. All this is aimed at playing our part in helping the country in its waste management in the most efficient and effective way.”
