Oriana PowerBalance of Plant (BOP) modules. The factory, set to be commissioned in two phases, will have an initial annual capacity of 500 megawatts (MW) for electrolyzer production and is expected to begin operations in 2026. The initiative is part of Oriana Power’s commitment to advancing green hydrogen and e-fuels technology.
The new facility will be built in collaboration with Splitwaters, a US-based leader in cutting-edge electrolyzer and BOP equipment. This partnership, announced last month, aims to leverage Splitwaters’ advanced electrolysis technology to enhance the efficiency of hydrogen production from renewable energy sources.
The factory's BOP systems will play a crucial role in supporting the electrolyzers by managing essential functions such as water supply, gas separation, and purification, thereby ensuring high performance and reliability.
Anirudh Saraswat, Chief Business Officer of Oriana Power, highlighted the significance of this project: “The green hydrogen market faces challenges including high capital costs and extended timelines. However, Splitwaters' modular technology effectively addresses these issues, enabling us to produce clean energy carriers at scale and reduce capital expenditure by up to 30% compared to traditional methods”.
In addition to the Indian venture, Oriana Power is developing green hydrogen and e-fuels projects in the UK and Europe in partnership with Splitwaters. Saraswat projected that the green hydrogen and e-fuels segment will start generating revenue by the next financial year, contributing significantly to the company’s earnings by FY2027.
